Orchid Land Estates...a great place to grow exotics...

This is a photo of my pitcher plant blooming, I came out one morning and it had a huge bloom stalk and a few days later it was all bloomed out. I did nothing special (not that I know of at least), I think it's living in Puna. Everything loves to grow here!

Well I vented about the roads in my last post (Mahalo for your indulgence in my passing fit of nasty attitude) and the next day some of the pot holes were filled! I know it wasn't my post...I am just embarrassed to have been so impatient! (I am still torqued about the graffiti to "Fix Aulii" though...).

I missed the GMM meeting! I had to work that day but it looked like there was a great turn out (I had to drive by twice!), I felt really bad that I wasn't there...but I know everyone worked very hard to resolve our current concerns in OLE.

I appreciate that we all get frustrated, but I have to say that in my experience as a REALTOR, I have found every subdivision has these kinds of concerns...and OLE has a pretty great bunch of people living here!

Two great properties to be aware of... Jared Gates has listed this gorgeous home right on Orchid Land Drive, I know it is a little pricey at $439,000.00 but check it out...this one really is a great deal! Up graded all the way, some of the furnishings may be included and it has a Sauna! (Not a hot tub, a steam sauna!), check out this little video for images of this incredible home, http://www.realestateshows.com/show.php?mls=basic&id=213637

And I recently listed a beautiful 3 acre lot on 39th Avenue just down from Orchid Land Drive for $54,900.00! Ocean views (I could see it when I stood on top of my SUV), it is on the Orchid Land Drive side of the old Noni farm...Great lot at a great price! Oi! The Roads! Whats up with the roads?!

Beautiful Orchid Land Estates... Pot hole capital of the free world?

Yep, maybe so...exempting the newly paved section of Orchid Land Drive of course (but it has been undermined in a few areas from that incredible rain we had), I wonder how may pot holes we have? It may be easier to guestimate how many linear feet of roadway we have that doesn't have pot holes! I bet it is at least 6 per block which wouldn't be to bad if they were the normal garden variety pot holes, but NOOO, this is Hawaii, we grow dem buggahs bigger and badder than anyplace else! So these are real axle breakers... it has gotten to the point that no one blinks when the on coming traffic is on your side of the road, you know they aren't drunk or stoned, just trying not to snap a wheel in that grandaddy pot hole! It is like an obstacle course!

And what is with the doofus who spray painted "Fix Aulii" on half the signs in OLE? Does he/she really think that is going to help? If they want Aulii fixed (who doesn't?) they should show up to the GMM meetings and help make some changes, cause the way things are now is just not working...

Mahalo for your indulgence during my rant! Is Orchid Land still one of the best subdivisions in East Hawaii? Definitely yes! And with March's land sales averaging just a little over $50,000.00 it is one of the most affordable subdivisions as well....

Check out Donna Duryeas listing on 39th Ave. to the right off of Orchid Land Drive, Nearly new custom home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Huge garage with painted concrete floor and extra storage...very nice place! $399,999.00

Or just a little farther down the road is my listing on 39th, right next to the Domingos' old Noni farm. 3 Acres for $54,900.00 and when I stood on top of the SUV I could see the ocean in the distance! Just up the road is the Art & Orchids Bed & Breakfast which I have on very good authority is a awesome B & B! And have you noticed that Poke to your taste has recently been parking down by Ilima? He makes the best Kimchee taco, Yummy!

Whatcha doing this Sunday? Come visit us at our Booth in the Makuu Market...every Sunday from 7:00-2:00 we will have a open house booth to discuss prices versus values on the Big Island and specifically the Puna/Kau/Hilo/Hamakua areas, we would love to see you there!
